Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra vs Roomba S9 Plus: Which is Real the Premium Vacuum?

Smart Home

Robotic vacuum cleaners are a blessing and a good cleaning companion that can keep floors and carpets nice & tidy! Among numerous brands, Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra & Roomba S9 Plus are the top performers, making them real rivals when it’s all about taking care of floors.

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra vs Roomba S9 Plus

Both of these vacuum cleaners are great in their class which makes buying decisions a bit harder. So,  we’re going to share a feature comparison of these Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra vs Roomba S9 Plus vacuum cleaners.

Navigation

Let’s start with the navigation first. As both are smart navigating robots, each utilizes a bevy of sensors to track location and draw maps inside your house.

However, the similarity ends here, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra utilizes a Lidar sensor that can work even in dark rooms as it doesn’t rely on light.

The Roomba S9 plus, on the other hand, relies on its top-mounted camera, and as a result, it’s not as precise as the Roborock. So, the MaxV Ultra clearly wins in terms of navigation.

Cleaning

Moving on to cleaning, the Roomba S9 Plus turns the table around. It has a higher airflow and power combined with the dual primary brush design that offers much better efficiency in carpet cleaning than the S7 MaxV in some cases. But, for the hard floors, the point easily goes for the Roborock S7 MaxV, since it can pick up debris from hard floors quite easily. The Roomba S9 Plus is good, too but does struggle a bit with large debris on the hard floor. It’s perhaps the same reason it’s so good at carpet cleaning, which is that the brushes are very close to the ground in the Roomba S9 Plus.

In terms of picking up short pet and human hair, both are excellent. However, we found out that the Roborock did a better job of resisting tangles with longer hair.

Next up is mopping, and this one is easy since only the Roborock S7 MaxV comes with a mop system. With 600 Grams of consistent pressure, it delivers effective mopping throughout the cleaning process. Moreover, the Roborock robot vacuum auto lifts up its mop to vacuum when it senses a carpet to avoid dampening the carpet.

Auto Empty Bin

Moving forward to the Auto Empty Bin, both of them have it, and both drive themselves back to the charging dock and empty the dust bin into a separate debris bag. Although the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra has a few additional features, like a better filter, in our testing, we found out that they were pretty much the same in terms of ability, and both did a great job in this department. But, the coolest thing is, MaxV Ultra also cleans its mop while docking.

Software Feature

Now, let’s look at the software features, and we must say that both of them offer robust features in this area, and you will be satisfied going with either of these two. Both have features where you can tell them to clean one room and exclude the other. They both have Multi-Level Mapping and Amazon’s Alexa support. You can even draw boundaries on the map in the app to keep these robots from going places where you don’t want them to go.

However, because of the Lidar system, we do think that the No-Go Lines are more accurate and customizable in the Roborock than the Roomba S9 Plus. However, the Roborock can remember only Four maps whereas the Roomba can remember a whopping Ten. That’s a good relief you have multiple rooms & floors.

Battery Life

In terms of battery life, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra easily outperforms the Roomba S9 Plus as it has a much larger battery of 5200 milliampere-hour with a runtime of 180 Minutes. The Roomba has a 3300 milliampere-hour battery with a runtime of 75 Minutes. We do want to mention that since both of them are smart robots, they will return to their base to recharge if they run out of battery. That’s not all, they will then resume cleaning exactly where they left off! But it’s always nice to complete the cleaning in one run, which the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is likely to do.

The Roomba S9 Plus with the Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum costs less than the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. So, iRobot Roomba earns a point.

Which One To Go For?

Taking everything into consideration, it’s safe to say that the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and the Roomba S9 Plus are both compelling offerings from the manufacturers, and you will not be disappointed buying either of these two.

Each has its advantages, and depending on your needs, one may suit you better than the other. “If you want a robust vacuum cleaner with better efficiency from a renowned brand, then the Roomba S9 Plus from iRobot can be an exceptional choice. But, if you want a robot vacuum cleaner with better navigation and battery life, then the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra can be a better option if the big price is not a real deal”. So, that was all about the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra vs Roomba S9 Plus.
