Polar Pacer Pro vs Forerunner 255: Which One Performs Better?

Wearables

Runners are among the most enthusiastic about quantifying their workout matric with smartwatches. And keeping that in mind, Garmin recently released its next-generation running smartwatch, the Forerunner 255. This smartwatch comes with many new upgrades compared to its predecessors. Now it has multi-band GPS, a race widget, heart rate variation, and many more.

Polar Pacer Pro vs Forerunner 255

Here, we are going to compare it with another running watch, the Polar Pacer Pro to find out which one performs better. So, without further ado, let’s get started!

Design

The Forerunner 255 is a lightweight and midrange running smartwatch, which comes in two sizes. The regular one is 46mm and has a 1.3-inch display, the smaller one is 41mm and has a 1.1-inch display. Whereas the Polar Pacer Pro comes in only one size, and the wrist circumference is 120 to 210mm. It has a 1.2-inch color display, which is pretty bright enough to read stats easily, even in bright sunlight. Both smartwatches can be operated via the five physical buttons, and there is no touchscreen for them. So, with the Forerunner 255, you can get the size options to choose from.

Health Features

The Forerunner 255 comes with Gamin’s fourth-generation heart rate sensor to give you a better understanding of your health. Also, it can track your blood oxygen saturation and body’s energy levels so you can know whether you are ready to work out or not. You can even receive an overview of your health, recovery, and training performance through HRV status. With the health snapshot feature, this smartwatch can record key stats at once, including heart rate, pulse ox, respiration, and stress level, so you don’t have to go through every app to check every metric. The Forerunner 255 also boasts training readiness so you can get to know about your sleep quality, how well you recovered from your last training, and more.

Garmin added a new feature in the Forerunner 255, which is Race Widget. This feature can help you with race prep information, race-day weather, countdown clock, and performance predictions. On the other hand, the Polar pacer Pro also has its own sensor to track your health conditions. It uses an LED array to record precise and accurate heart rates and provides it via the Polar Flow app. The Polar Pacer Pro also comes with the walking test, turn-by-turn guidance, compass, and HillSplitter to guide you on our outdoor activities. With Training Load Pro, you can measure how your current training affects your fitness. The Polar Pacer Pro also can let you know how much carbs you burn while doing workouts with the Energy source feature.

Versions

Moreover, the Forerunner 255 has two variants, one is the standard version, and another one is the music version. The worst thing is, that you have to pay $50 extra just to listen to your favorite music without having your smartphone nearby. But still, you can control your smartphone’s music with the standard version. With the Polar Pacer Pro, you can do that too.

GPS System

The Forerunner 255 comes with a multi-band GPS, which is now more accurate than before and supports multiple satellite frequencies. Meaning you can now get a good GPS signal no matter where you go. Whereas the Polar Pacer Pro also has a top-tier GPS system but sometimes the tracking goes off track.

Battery

Let’s talk about the battery life, the Forerunner 255 can run for up to 14 days, and with GPS mode, you can use it for up to 30 hours. On the other hand, the Polar Pacer Pro can survive for up to 7 days on a single charge, and while GPS is on, it can run for up to 35 hours.

Which One Should You Go for?

“In general, both the Forerunner 255 and Polar Pacer Pro shares almost similar features with different name. But the Forerunner 255 is far better with its health feature, GPS accuracy, and battery life. So, what do you think? We would love to hear from you!”
