Matrice 30T vs Matrice 300 RTK: Which One is the Best Industrial Drone?

Camera

Industrial drones are mostly used for public safety by delivering accurate and timely aerial intel. They also allow you to visualize assets in real-time and help you improve your decision-making in crucial moments. Recently, DJI unveiled another industrial drone named Matrice 30T and added it to their next-generation drone lineup. It comes with all new hefty features in a compact form factor, including four foldable arms, high-performance cameras, and more payload capacity. However, DJI has another popular industrial drone Matrice 300 RTK, which was released in 2020 with outstanding features. In today’s article, we are going to compare the Matrice 30T with the Matrice 300 RTK to know which one is the best industrial drone. So, let’s get into it.

Design

Both Matrice 30T and 300 RTK come with foldable arms that give you maximum portability, allowing you to easily carry them wherever you need them. But, the Matrice 30T comes in a more compact size compared to 300 RTK, which lets you fly through extreme conditions. Another key difference you might notice is the Matrice 300 RTK came with all downward propellers whereas the Matrice 30T comes with two downward and two upward propellers, which ensures more stability while flying it in harsh conditions. In terms of construction quality, the Matrice 30T comes with an IP55 rating to survive through heavy rain. On the other side, the Matrice 300 RTK comes with an IP45 rating, meaning it can also withstand water, but you need to be more careful with the 300 RTK.

Performance

The Matrice 300 RTK comes with the OcuSync that enables up to 15 km of transmission range. On the other side, the Matrice 30T comes with four built-in antennas that support OcuSync 3, which is an upgraded version but it also delivers up to 15 km transmission range. So, it seems the transmission range hasn’t been extended rather it will ensure a more stable connection. Besides, both drones support 2.4 and 5.8Ghz transmission rates for more reliable flights near high interference environments.

Moreover, for maximum speed, both drones can fly at up to 23 meters per second speed and can resist wind at 15 meters per second. Plus, for further safety, both drones come with dual-vision and ToF sensors that appear on all six sides of the aircraft, which allows you to accurately navigate complicated environments without causing any damage or compromising your mission. Overall, as you can see there is no difference in the performance and flying speed between these two industrials drones. But the latest Matrice 30T will give you more stability and an immersive flight experience in extreme conditions.

MATRICE 300 RTK

Camera System

The most prominent upgrade we can say is the camera system. The Matrice 30T comes with built-in cameras whereas the Matrice 300 RTK doesn’t offer any. The 30T comes with 12MP wide camera that allows you to capture 4K videos at 30fps. It also provides a 48MP zoom camera, which ensures up to 16 times optical zoom and up to 200 times hybrid zoom. Besides, you can even get 8K resolution photos and 4K videos at 30fps. Most importantly, the Matrice 30T offers a thermal imaging camera and laser rangefinder that can go for up to 1200 meters. On the other side, it’s true, the Matrice 300 RTK doesn’t come with a built-in camera but that doesn’t mean you can not use any. Even it gives you the additional compatibility to carry more payloads like Zenmuse H20, H20T, and many more.

When using a drone for firefighting operations, it’s more important to have a drone with long-lasting battery life. And, the Matrice 30T offers a maximum flight time of up to 41 minutes whereas the 300 RTK delivers up to 55 minutes, which is a bit of a downgrade for 30T. However, both come with hot-swappable batteries, which minimizes the downtime without the need to reboot the aircraft.

Price

The Matrice 30T comes with a $13,999 price tag whereas you have to spend $13,700 only for the Matrice 300 RTK without any camera setup. Though you want to add camera accessories like Zenmuse H20T, the price will rise to $25,500, which is pretty costly compared to Matrice 30T. In general, we can suggest the Matrice 30T is a way to go for its price and built-in camera.

Final Thoughts

Both 30T and 300 RTK have almost the same features except for the battery life and camera system. You will have a built-in camera system with the Matrice 30T even at a lower cost than the Matrice 300 RTK. If you want to buy Matrice 300 RTK, you need to pay extra for the camera system.
