JBL Charge 4 vs JBL Flip 5: Which One is Better?

JBL Charge 4 vs JBL Flip 5: Which is Better?

Perhaps, right now, you are planning to upgrade your speaker and are totally confused about which one to pick, JBL Charge 4 or JBL Flip 5. Then you are on the right site. Since in this article, we have compared the JBL Charge 4 and the JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speakers. And both of these speakers have their own merits and demerits. But regardless of how the consumers react, let’s take a quick comparison tour between these two portable speakers and help you decide whether you should get one of these.

Build Quality

Well, where to start? Both of these speakers are great from their own position. But let’s start with the build quality. The JBL Charge 4 is bulkier compared to the JBL Flip 5. Even though both of these speakers are splash proof, dustproof, and water-resistant, the Charger 4 is much thicker than the Flip 5. So, it’s understandable that the Flip 5 is more travel-friendly, while the Charge 4 might be a good option for an indoor party. However, both of them have a one-meter waterproof depth rating, and the Charge 4 offers a detachable cable for hassle-free usage.

Sound Quality

Now, about the sound quality. First of all, these are not stereo speakers. But both of these have passive radiators for jaw-dropping bass alongside having the same highest frequency level of 20000 Hz and 80dB of Signal-to-noise ratio. Except for the fact that the Charge 4 has a 30W of output power to deliver louder music. And it also has the lowest frequency range of 60Hz for delivering Johnny Cash’s songs smoothly, but the Flip 5 still works great head-to-head.

As both the Charge 4 and Flip 5 are portable, they do have rechargeable batteries. And the Charge 4 has been equipped with a 7500mAh battery which will give you up to 20 hours of runtime, whereas the Flip 5 has a 4800mAh battery that lets you have 12 hours of runtime. So it’s easy to say that the Charge 4 will not let you worry at all about the runtime in the outdoors, but the Flip 5 will do just fine. And both of these speakers have a battery level indicator in order to let you know the battery status at any time. You can recharge these portable speakers with the provided charging cable, and the Charge 4 and Flip 5 get fully recharged in 5.5 hours and 2.5 hours, respectively.

Now, in terms of connectivity, both of these speakers have some ups and downs. For example- the JBL Charge 4 has a socket for a 3.5mm audio jack, which is not available in the Flip 5. Both of them have Bluetooth 4.2 and Type-C charging, but they don’t support Wi-Fi, which is, as a matter of fact, quite expected since they are not smart speakers. But, in this case, Charge 4 takes the lead by having an additional connectivity option, an AUX input, which is missing from the Flip 5. But that is quite okay.

However, both of the speakers can be used wirelessly, so you can just take them on an excursion or outdoor party. They also support a Remote Smartphone which will allow you to use your smartphone as a remote control for the device. And they feature a sleep timer, which basically shuts off the power after a preset amount of time.

Now finally, let’s get down to its pricing. The JBL Charge 4 will cost you around 140$, while the Flip 5 will cost you around 120$. But is that justified where you can just get a smart speaker like Amazon Echo or Google Nest Audio within 100 dollars? Well, maybe yes. Because these portable speakers are specifically built for music and taking them outdoors, whereas those smart speakers are purposefully used for other significant features, especially smart features. In fact, they will not even be able to compete against the Charge 4 as well as the Flip 5 in terms of music consumption. But anyways, if you prefer more portability, then get a Flip 5 for yourself. But if you want more power, then the Charge 4 is absolutely the best pick for you.
