Having a second display can be a huge bonus sometimes when you need space for plugins and other extra controls. It helps to keep the screen clutter-free and the control at the tip of your finger. Now, what if we told you that you can actually keep it at the tip of your finger along with your keyboard? If that sounds intriguing, then you should check out the Ficihp K2 USB Mechanical Keyboard. Attached with this amazing keyboard is a spectacular 12.6-inch touchscreen display. Want to know more? Let’s find out!
Packaging
We have to give Ficihp an A for packaging. There are two layers to it; first, there’s the black hard paper cover – the cover has the name, model, and an outline of the actual keyboard, painted in gold, which looks fantastic. Then, beneath the first cover, there’s the hard cardboard box in black. Overall, it has a very premium feel to it.
Unpacking
After admiring the packaging for some time, it is time to open up the box. The Ficihp K2 USB Mechanical keyboard is surrounded by thick protective foams. But before you start playing with your new toy, we need to dig deeper and check out what else comes inside the box. Uncovering the next cardboard layer, you will find a wrist rest, a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, and a USB Type-C to HDMI port. Plus, there are two USB A cables, the manual, a key puller, and a carrying bag. However, we expected to find braided cables for the price, but that’s something we didn’t mind that much.
Build
For its build, it uses aluminum alloy, ABS, and polycarbonate. So, the construction is pretty solid. It has some heft to it too which gives that premium feel. Overall, the solid build quality, the great monitor, the keyboard, and the port selection ticks many boxes for a great keyboard.
Keyboard
Moving on, the entire monitor and keyboard combo comes in a unibody design. Let’s focus on the keyboard first. The K2 is an RGB hot-swap keyboard with a 71% layout and is equipped with Gateron blue switches. So, if you love loud keyboards, this is the one for you. You can also get this in Gateron Red switches or Brown switches. As for the RGB, there’s no dedicated software, you need to push specific key combinations to change the lighting effect. So, don’t throw the manual away in the trash just yet. Its height is adjustable, and the rubber feet feel great and hold the keyboard in place. As for the wrist rest, the leather-like material feels premium and nice against the skin.
Monitor
The 12.6-inch monitor, on the other hand, has a resolution of 1920×515 pixels, meaning it’s not full HD. As for the panel, it uses an IPS wide viewing angle display, with a contrast ratio of 1200:1. The monitor is bright enough to be used in home and office settings, but we wouldn’t recommend taking this outside under direct sunlight. The best part about the monitor is that it’s a touch panel. So, besides dragging your mouse, you can also drag your fingers across the screen. This can be a game-changer if you’re a streamer.
Port Selection & Connectivity
For ports, you get one USB C and two USB A’s. That way, you can connect other peripherals and external drives with this keyboard. Now, for connectivity, you can hook this up to a plethora of devices, like PCs, laptops, and Android devices, you name it. As for the method of connection, you can use the USB C cable. But what if your laptop doesn’t support display output via USB C? What then? That’s where the Cerberus-looking cable comes in. Using it will take up your HDMI port and two USB A ports, which can be a problem for laptops with minimal port selection. There are two USB A ports on the keyboard, so that makes up for it. However, the A ports on this device are USB 2.0. Although not ideal, it will work fine with your other peripherals. Lastly, there are three buttons on the keyboard for modifying the monitor’s settings.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Ficihp K2 keyboard feels very nice. The solid build mixed with the amazing screen can be a productivity booster. Hence, whether you’re streaming or editing videos, this screen can be very helpful. The only thing that would have made it perfect is if the screen could have been raised a bit more, or tilted a bit more. But other than that, the Ficihp K2 USB Mechanical Keyboard is an exceptionally unique keyboard that you should atleast check out.
